Workosaur Salary Survey Report 2008-09
The Workosaur Salary Survey Report for 2008-09 is a first-of-its-kind salary survey of senior professionals working in India across different functional areas.
Objective of the Survey
The Workosaur Salary Survey is an Annual Survey which is conducted with the objective of providing senior professionals with data to benchmark their salary against prevailing industry standards within their functional area.
The functional areas being covered under this survey are:
1. Consulting, Strategy & Planning
2. Finance & Accounts
3. Sales, Business Development & Marketing
Methodology
The Workosaur Salary Survey Report is based on salary (including variable component) data made available by 3200 top professionals in India. We restricted the audience to alumni of the top 10 business schools in India. This restriction has been imposed so that the readers of this survey can benchmark themselves against the best in the industry.
Within a particular function, we have then analyzed data in clusters - each cluster consisting of those from a particular b-school batch. The batch was chosen as the basis of analysis because of the specific tendency exhibited by professionals to know where they stand amongst their school batch.
Findings
For each cluster of data, we have then presented a Salary Distribution Chart, Average Annual Salary and a Designation Cloud.
The Salary Distribution Chart is a pie chart depicting the distribution, within a cluster, in different annual salary ranges. The Average Salary is the mean annual salary within a cluster.
The Designation Cloud is a weighted list of the designations that are common to a particular cluster with the font-size of a particular designation corresponding to its relative prevalence in that cluster.
Scope
As mentioned earlier, we have restricted the scope of our survey to 3 broad functional area - Consulting, Strategy & Planning; Finance & Accounts; Sales, Business Development & Marketing. The other functions for which we collected data were Systems & Technology, Operations, Logistics & Engineering and Human Resources. In case of Systems & Technology and Operations, Logistics & Engineering, samples were just not deep enough across different batches; while in case of Human Resources, we were not able to reach out to a statistically significant sample size.
